The Politics of Blindness: from Charity to Parity by Graeme McCreath

The Book:

79% of blind Canadians have never had a job. McCreath, blind since age nine, paints a vivid picture of what it is to be blind in Canada and offers a compelling critique of the lack of existing infrastructure to support independence of the blind through employment. He eloquently and knowledgeably offers proactive solutions involving government, not charity, to solve this issue.
He has arranged for his book to be available across five formats: paperback, eBook, braille, digital mp3 Apple Alex Talking Book, and DAISY Audible Audio.

The Author:

Graeme was born in the United Kingdom and became blind at age 9. Initially trained as a short-hand typist, he has beaten the odds and, through his tenacity and strength of purpose, has worked all his life. He lives with his wife and family in Victoria, BC, where he works as a physiotherapist in their private practice. Over the years, he has gained a passion for blind civil rights. He is available for interviews and speaking events. To learn more about his cause, please visit his website.

Testimonial:

The Politics of Blindness stands as a monument of history, a testament to the unrecognized blind citizens of our country and a guide to motivate positive change for blind Canadians now and in the future. I am grateful to Mr. McCreath for his commitment, for his perseverance and for his courage in writing this book.
